全てのFCSフィンは、ベース、デプス、エリア、スイープによって分類されています。
これらのフィン特性がサーフボードのパフォーマンスをどのように変化させるかを理解することは、どのFCSフィンが最適かを考える上で重要です。

BASE(ベース)
ベースとは、フィンがボードに接するリーディングエッジとトレーリングエッジの間の長さのこと。ベースは主にドライブと関係しています。ベースが長いフィンは、ドライブ性と加速性が大幅に向上します。

DEPTH(深さ)
深さとはフィンが水中に入り込む距離のこと。深さはホールド性に直結する。深さが深ければ深いほどホールド感が増し、深さが短ければ短いほどボードが滑ってリリースしてしまう。

SWEEP(スィープ)
スイープとは、フィンのアウトラインがどれだけ後方にカーブしているかを示す角度で、レイクとも呼ばれる。スウィープはピボットに直接影響する。スウィープが大きいフィンはターンアークが長くなり、小さいフィンはターンアークがタイトになる。

AREA(エリア)
フィンの表面積の総和。
